Troubleshooting

Connection problems

When an account won't connect, stops syncing, or asks you to log in again.

Contact us with your bank's name and error message if you need help.

An account needs reconnecting

Connections can expire when a bank requires renewed permission or you change your password. Tap the reconnect prompt on the account and sign in again. Don't add the bank as a new connection, which can create duplicate accounts.

If reconnecting keeps failing:

Sign in to your bank's website or app directly. There may be a notice to acknowledge before third-party access works again.

Check whether Penny's access was revoked on your bank's "connected apps" page.

Reconnect using your current bank password, including any recent changes.

Can't find your bank

  • Search for the institution's full legal name
  • Try the web address you use to log in
  • Check whether your credit union is listed under a service provider's name
  • Some banks list consumer and business banking separately

Large banks often have several entries: one for retail, one for cards, one for investing. Pick the one matching the site you use.

If your bank isn't listed, tell us which one.

Login rejected

  • Confirm your credentials work on the bank's own site.
  • Some banks need you to approve access in their app before Plaid can continue.
  • A few banks require a separate online banking enrollment for third-party access.

Connected, but no transactions

Give a new connection a few hours to import history. After that, see missing transactions.

Balances update, transactions don't

Some banks update balances more often than transactions. Pull to refresh and check again the next day. If it lasts several days, try reconnecting the account.

Apple accounts not syncing

See If Apple accounts don't appear.
